REPURCHASED II :: MARY KAY TIMEWISE FOUNDATION

Frankly, I have never used a Mary Kay anything before when Mary Kay was all the rave and everyone and their grandmothers owned one, I didn't have one product from Mary Kay so imagine my surprise to have fallen head over heels for this foundation.

First off, let me just clear the air and say that I have nothing against Mary Kay products but with its popularity came the fakes and even the dupe, so I pretty much stayed clear of it. My first encounter with this product was when I popped into Ritas Beauty on Marian Road (I live in Calabar), just feeding my eyes, checking out what’s new when the MUA there showed me the foundation, he literally broke into song just praising this foundation, before I knew it, I'm in a chair trying out this bad boy out, I ended up buying two shades Bronze 2 and 3.

I love this Foundation, this Foundation stays (this is a rare case for oily skin girls that sweats alot) I apply it and it stays, period! I prefer applying this either with my fingers or a beauty blender versus a Foundation/stippling brush. The best part about this foundation is its great value for the price. you can definitely get from any online beauty store or just a regular beauty shop.

Thanks for stopping by.

REVIEW :: OLE HENRIKSEN PURE TRUTH ACTIVATING OIL

First off apologies are in order, I am so so sorry for neglecting this blog, Secondly happy new year/Happy new month everyone, how is the new year coming along? still staying true to all your new year resolutions? well, I am not, Lol!

It is no news that the terrible harmattan that hit us this year has long gone leaving behind nothing but heat, I mean its rained three times in Calabar and nothing just hot air.

OLE HENRIKSEN PURE TRUTH ACTIVATING OIL
During the Harmattan season, my skin (which is usually fine and quite oily) experienced some serious dryness. I also noticed dry patches round my mouth area and flaky skin, I switched up my skin care regimen even switched from liquid to cream foundation but still nothing, my daily moisturizer was doing nothing for me.

I had ordered the Lookfantastic Dec Beauty Box early on in the month and forgot all about it until i received a call from the post office, it was in this box that this gem came in.

This product is 100% pure rose hips oil and it says to apply to face and neck and best to follow application with a moisturizer, am pretty certain this is what did it for me within a week i saw great results, but the downside about this product is that its anti aging, so if you are in your 20s, you might want to not go overboard with using this. When i first used this i expected a very pleasant smell what I got shocked me, it smelt like oranges!!! You know that smell you get when you peel an orange or even zest an orange, YES!!! that smell i hate it (I don't like oranges). But apart from that it isn't greasy, you wont wake up feeling like you have a heavy facial on your face, this stuff is very light.

Frankly I do not know where one can get this in Nigeria but the good news is lookfantastic .com offers free delivery to Nigeria. I recently just received the LookFantastic Jan Beauty Box will be blogging on that soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

REVIEW: ZARON EYESHADOW+BLUSH DUO PALETTE IN NUDE IT ALL

Hey everyone, I'm sorry I have been away from this blog, and frankly I have no excuses, with that being said am trying to see if I can come up with a more regular posting schedule maybe twice a week or thrice a week, hopefully!

ZARON EYESHADOW+BLUSH DUO PALETTE IN NUDE IT ALL

When I first saw this palette I was interested because the palette is called Nude It All, and am a nude eye, winged eyeliner, matte red/burgundy lipped kinda gal, for the life of me I can't have a dewy look and a glossy lip, I always feel like I need to powder my face. Although I have seen other versions of this Palette but never in Nude It All, so of course I was intrigued.

First off let me just say this palette isn't exactly pigmented, some of the shades were pigmented enough while some weren't hence the reason why i didn't do a swatch, but i find that using an eyeshadow base or primer and with a particular heavy hand can build up the colours. Also this Palette was a combination of both matte and shimmery shades.

The blushes are on a different level guys, the pigmentation was just right. Now the first shade is like a burnt reddish orange shade, I seriously can't use that blush not even to contour, am sure it will work on dark skin tones but the other blush was nice, its like a burgundy-almost-pink-but-not shade, when am aiming to look mean, with my matte burgundy lip or red lip then this works just fine.

One of the eyeshadows which is like a gold glittering shade is a dupe of one of the shadows in the their Quad Duo Eyeshadow Palette in Fashionista. Although I swatched it but I couldn't find the pictures so hopefully those pictures will have to do.

Overall, its an OK palette, I like it because on most days I just reach for this, it has all the colour you are looking for, from under the eyebrow bone shadow, to a transition colour, so this is nice, also if you want light coverage then this has got you covered.

Review: Tara Powder + Foundation

I recently bought the Tara Powder + Foundation but before I head on to the review, let me just state here that I am a 8 - 6ers which means I don't have the time to have a full makeup on most days, I am a procastinator and literally hate waking up and by the time am out of bed i literally have no time to make up so am minimal on most days, like VERY minimal, am talking tinted mosturiser, face powder, lipgloss or lip balm on most days, eyebrow pencil, eye liner, some mascara and am out, so when i noticed this product with its powder + foundation formula that also has sunscreen, aloe vera and its oil free i had to get it.

When I used this powder for the first time I thought I got the shade wrong so I went back to return it. On getting there the shop assistant asked me to try it on again because she was convinced it was my shade, tried it and lo and behold it was my shade, I left that shop feeling embarrassed and emotionally scarred.

I decided to give this a try again on clean face without any other beauty product, by the time I got to the office my colleagues asked why my face was DARK?! I looked in the mirror, lets just say I nearly broke down in tears, I couldn't believe I left the house looking like that?! I got home that day and decided to try the powder on my sister and after about 10mins, her T-zone area got darker then the other areas of her face that's when I realised that when used on oily skin, this powder oxidises and becomes 2 shades darker than your regular skin tone (not so oil  free in my opinion).

If you are going for something oil free and lightweight than i definitely don't recommend this, and if you have super oily skin like me than this product is not for you

Details:
Price: I purchased this for N3800 but I think it originally retails for N3500.
You can purchase this at any House of Tara outlets, www.houseoftara.com should have a list of all outlets nationwide.

Review: Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Powder

The Maybelline Clear Smooth All IN One powder N2200, launched early last month, so you can imagine my surprise/excitement to find this in Calabar, I quickly reached for one (thinking about this I should have gotten two). I got this in the shade Toffee, although the shop assistant told me Toffee was my shade I didn't believe him even after leaving the shop I still doubted him, i felt like I still had to try it on just to be sure, but to my surprise this shade suited me safe to say Maybelline Nigeria has got their skin tone charting on point.

On to the review, when I first got this product I remember reading on the package how this powder controls shine, conceals flaws, smoothes, evens, mattifies, brightens, perfects, tones, and has SPF 25, and thinking WOW! that's ALOT of features for one powder! but let me just tell you I was honestly blown away!!!

I tried this powder first without foundation and  it didn't conceal anything much, but what was most noticeable was how lightweight it was, and that is refreshing for me because with the hot weather conditions in Nigeria lightweight makeup is the best way to go. No one wants to be walking around with a caked face in this heat. Plus the lightweight feature, it also has SPF 25 to protect the face from all that harsh rays from the sun.

I also tried this powder with foundation and I was shocked with the results I got, this powder just pulled the entire look together and made it look flawless, my face was pretty much shine free/matte except for the occassional sweat here and there my face stayed matte for up to 4hrs, impressive right?

The packaging didn't do it for me, am used to the usual classic black plastic packaging, but this came in a light pink rectangular case along with a sponge and can I just say that the Case is too big for the amount of powder in it.

Although its super affordable this product isn't exactly the regular sized amount of powder we are used to so this might last a maximum of 3 weeks. Overall this a great product

Note: If you live in Calabar you can get this at  Rita's Beauty Store , Adiabo Close , Marian Road, Calabar
Price: N2500

REPURCHASED #1

I am a huuggggeee makeup hoarder so whenever I finish up a product I feel like doing a victory dance or giving myself an excellence award of some sort! Like its SURREAL!!! Although these products are not exactly things I hoard, these are products I reach for on the regular, they practically  live in my makeup bag.

EOS Organic Smooth Sphere Lip Balm Passion Fruit: I am sure everyone has these babies by now if you don't then honey please do! I first got to know about this product from a Youtuber's Monthly Favourites Video (can't remember who); I made a note to get it then. At the time I got it, I got the Strawberry Sorbet flavour because Strawberries are everything, do I say more? Although  I didn't run out of this, a friend "took" it, so of course I had to repurchase it.

Maybelline Colossal Kajal: Everything you have heard or read about this eyeliner is TRUE, this bad boy is amazing, it doesn't smudge and lasts long. Although I have other eyeliners but since I got this earlier this year I seldom reach for the rest, a worthy repurchase I tell you.

Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Eye Liner: Every one and their grandma owes one, I can't even start to describe the awesomeness that is this beauty, so of course when I run out, a repurchase was in order.

Details:
EOS Lip Balm in Honeysuckle: N1200
Maybelline Colossal Kajal: N1000
Maybellline Eyestudio Gel Liner: N3500

I purchased these at Rita's Beauty Shop {hopefully I got that right) Adiabo Close, off Marian Road, Calabar. But if you are out of Calabar, you can definitely get this from

So guys what products do you mostly repurchase?
